This year marks a significant milestone for Eiros Group as we celebrate our five-year anniversary. Since our founding, we have remained committed to providing the highest quality, person-centered support services to the people that we have had the privilege of supporting.
Over the past five years, our agency has grown tremendously, expanding our services to better meet the needs of those we serve. From providing essential resources like person-centered planning and housing supports through supports brokerage, to individualized direct support, we have been a game changer for countless individuals and families. Our dedicated team has worked tirelessly to ensure that our customers receive the support they need to live the life they choose with dignity and grace.
One of the most rewarding aspects of our journey has been witnessing the success stories of those we have helped. To walk with someone as they discover where they want to live and identify who they want to support them is an honor. The best part is watching them unfold into their new surroundings. This makes it all worthwhile.
This milestone would not have been possible without the unwavering support of the dedicated employees at Eiros Group. I am deeply grateful for their commitment to our mission and their belief in our work.
As we look to the future, we remain committed to the highest quality and innovation. Our goal is to develop new programs, strengthen existing services, and continue to help people live their best lives. The coming five years hold immense promise, and we are excited to embark on the next chapter of our journey.
To celebrate this achievement, we invite all customers (previous and current) and partners to join us at our upcoming anniversary event, where we will honor our supporters, share inspiring stories, and discuss our vision for the future. Together, we can continue to make a difference and build a stronger, more compassionate community.
Thank you for being a part of our journey. Here’s to five years of service—and many more to come!
Kindest regards,
E. Jennifer Brown

Moving from adolescence to adulthood is a major life change. For those navigating Medicaid and Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) services, it can feel overwhelming. The transition from school to adult services brings new challenges and opportunities. At Eiros Group, we use Gentle Teaching to support students through this process, ensuring they feel safe, valued, and empowered.
What is Gentle Teaching?
Gentle Teaching is a philosophy that focuses on creating safe, nurturing relationships. Instead of control or compliance, it builds meaningful connections that foster confidence, trust, and
self-worth. It is based on four core values:
These values are essential for navigating change, especially during transitions.
Applying Gentle Teaching to Transitions
Moving from school-based services to adult supports can be uncertain, but with Gentle Teaching, it becomes an opportunity for growth. Here’s how we apply this approach:
Creating Safety and Trust
Change can be difficult, so building trust is key. We take time to listen, address concerns, and provide reassurance. Whether through conversations, visual schedules, or gradual exposure to new environments, we strive to make transitions predictable and comfortable.
Prioritizing Relationships Over Regulations
The transition to Medicaid-funded supports involves learning about policies, eligibility, and services. While these are important, our focus is on relationships. We provide guidance and advocacy so people feel heard and supported.
Encouraging Self-Determination
Adulthood is about making choices and having control over one's life. Gentle Teaching fosters confidence to explore new opportunities, try different supports, and set personal goals. Whether choosing self-directed activities in the community or in-home supports, we encourage decision-making through respectful guidance.
Supporting Families and Supporters
Transitions affect families as well. We offer reassurance, education, and resources to help them navigate Medicaid and DDD services. Strengthening these support networks leads to a smoother transition.
A Gentle Approach to a New Chapter
Transitions bring challenges but also opportunities for growth. At Eiros Group, we use Gentle Teaching to make this journey one of encouragement and empowerment. By fostering safe, supportive relationships, we help people move forward with confidence, knowing they are not alone.
If you or a loved one needs guidance during this transition, we are here to help. Together, we can make this next chapter one of possibility and success.
On Thursday, March 20th, Eiros Group's founder and CEO, Jenn Brown will be hosting an online workshop dedicated to helping clarify what kinds of housing opportunities exist, how and where to get funding, and offer a question and answer session.

Taking care of a child with special needs can feel like you are learning a new language. In a way, we are. We have learned that when you are uncertain about something that comes your way regarding your child, ask questions. For our family, it has been beneficial in learning more about how different processes work. It has also aided us in helping our son utilize the resources that are available for him. That is the ultimate lesson - ask questions whenever you are unsure and keep politely pressing for answers.
By Christine Hanneken, Support Coordinator
It is so important for the ladies and gentlemen we support to understand the role of their Support Coordinator, and what they should expect from that relationship. It can be very confusing, especially when transitioning from the education system to adult services.
The first and most important thing to know is that your Support Coordinator is there to help guide you and your family through the system of adult services. Initially, you are assigned a Support Coordinator with the agency you or your parents may have chosen; however, it is ultimately your choice whom you work with. It is important that you connect with your Support Coordinator and feel comfortable being open and honest with them. In the beginning, this may take time. Most good relationships develop over time. However, it is always your right to make a change if you do not feel comfortable with the person you are assigned to.
Our job is to guide you through the system, and help you find services that will meet your needs and assist you in having the life you want to have. We are part of your team of support that includes those who support you at home, family, friends and the agencies you will select to provide services through your DDD Budget. We will write a service plan that includes your medical information, support needs and your hopes and dreams. We are here to help you create your future. Although parts of the process may be tedious, the results should be positive and inspiring!
Overall, our goal is to reflect, in the plan, the amazing person that you are!
Each month, we receive stories and photos from Eiros Group Employees, the people we support and their families, about a variety of topics including services insights, vacation or holiday experiences, family memories or traditions, favorite recipes and of course, stories about life with Disability. If you would like to submit an article or photos or both, for consideration in an upcoming edition, please send to: maryb@eiros-group.com We are grateful for all of the submissions to our newsletter!

Noah has admired his grandpa's cat from afar for many years. He is quite apprehensive about animals that aren't in a habitat. But, recently Seren the cat, jumped up on Noah's lap. He tolerated it, and even eventually pet her! This is huge progress for Noah! His grandfather and Mom were shocked and so happy!

On January 28th, Governor Phil Murphy announced that New Jerseyans can now start using IRS Direct File for the 2025 tax filing season. The online tax filing tool, which is available to New Jerseyans for the first time, offers live chat support and provides taxpayers with a FREE, easy, accessible, and secure way to file their federal and state individual tax returns – it is estimated that more than one million New Jerseyans will be eligible to use Direct File. New Jerseyans may qualify to use IRS Direct File this tax season if they have lived in New Jersey for all of 2024, earned all of their 2024 income in New Jersey, and plan to use the same filing status for both their federal and state income tax returns. Residents can find out if they are eligible at DirectFile.IRS.gov.

During March, Applied Self-Direction is hosting the Self-Direction Conference, which is kicking off the "First Four" of virtual sessions. It's March Madness: Self-Direction Conference Style! Applied Self-Direction is offering the following:
March 5: Worker Benefits in Self-Direction: State and FMS Perspectives
Explore the landscape of worker benefits in self-direction programs through findings from a new study led by Applied Self-Direction's Financial Management Services (FMS) Policy Workgroup. State administrators will share their experiences implementing various benefit structures and how they tackle the complexities of incorporating worker benefits while maintaining program integrity and supporting participant choice. This session will feature insights from the FMS Policy Workgroup's analysis and state implementation strategies to examine what's working and what challenges remain.
March 12: Natural Supports: Who's In My Circle?
Natural supports are the individuals in your family, network, and community who play an essential role in your life. In this webinar, we’ll explore how to recognize and engage these crucial members of your circle—whether they’re family members, friends, or community connections. Understanding and leveraging natural supports can make a significant difference in your life. We look forward to seeing you!
March 19: Too Big to Thrive
Self-direction is gaining popularity and mainstream appeal. As it increases in popularity, agencies and those self-directing face new challenges - namely those inherent to a long-term care Medicaid program that, by its nature, costs a lot. How can advocates prepare for these challenges? Do we have to accept limitations? If cuts are proposed, how can we fight them?
March 26: Lessons from the Budget Authority State Innovation Lab Collaborative
Learn key insights and best practices emerging from then Applied Self-Direction’s State Innovation Lab on budget authority. We will discuss how states tackle common challenges, implement innovative solutions, and advance self-direction through budget authority. State panelists will discuss their most valuable takeaways and how peer learning has shaped their program improvements. This session will offer a unique window into how states are working to strengthen and expand budget authority in self-direction.
Overtime Sessions: Can't get enough? You can sign up for all five April Sessions to secure your courtside seats.
